Medicine Reliance

Reliance on Medicine

As hard as it is to admit, we will be the first to say that medicine can be a good thing. That is only true if they are used in the right way. There are more than 20 diseases that are more prevalent (percentage wise) today than half a century ago. This includes the top 5 deadliest diseases in America. Furthermore, no disease has been cured since Polio in 1951! This is proof that there is no real attempt at curing any illness and that the hope of finding a cure should never outweigh the idea of protecting yourself through prevention.

Deadly Medicine

A study produced by the American Cancer Society shows that for every dollar spent towards preventative healthcare will save a person anywhere from $3 to $15 on healthcare in the long run. On the opposing side, one in every three dollars spent on healthcare doesn’t actually do anything to cure the illness they are used for. More people are addicted to prescription medicine than cocaine, heroin, ecstasy, hallucinogens, and marijuana combined. More people are also dying from these medications than from all illegal drugs combined. Going by the numbers, prescription medicine is the 4th most common cause of death in the U.S with over 100,000 deaths a year. There are also 2.2 million RECORDED serious side effects each year from the medicines. These two figures come from medicine taken only in their prescribed doses. This doesn’t include those who abused a medication, those that weren’t hospitalized, and those that died immediately from the drug.

Medicine Recent evidence has shown that some medicines have even reached the market with no previous research before being sold. For example, the entire study published for Celebrex and Vioxx were completely fabricated. More than 20% of medications are taken off the shelf within 5 years of their introduction because of their devastating health effects. Dr. Wolfe says that some of these medicines are taken off of the shelf from adverse effects that were known before they were ever promoted. Finally there are new warning labels added to 40 drugs a month on average. These are medications that are already spread across the nation, and the side effects are discovered by the population being used the guinea pig. The side effects in drugs have even been found to appear anywhere from a few days to a few months after consuming the medication. This means that the symptoms are found so far down the road that many consumers can’t even associate the new illness with the old drug. This is actually the cause of many of the reoccurring illnesses many people experience. On top of hurting your body from the chemicals in medicines, you will also be denying your body the chance to build immunity and strengthen itself when your immune system goes into work fighting simple illnesses. When your body doesn’t have the chance to fight off smaller illnesses then how is it ever going to survive a more serious one?

Now for a quick look at how a drug gets accepted for use. Most medical studies performed are done so by the drug companies trying to promote their medication. If a medication is shown to improve a single aspect of the body, without killing too many people, then it is approved by the FDA and becomes available for human consumption. One such example are statin (Cholesterol lowering) drugs. These drugs are capable of lowering cholesterol levels, but at the same time they are destroying other parts of the body. These medicines block the liver from producing necessary amounts of any cholesterol which actually makes cardiovascular diseases more common for its users. Following is a list of other common side effects from statin drugs…

Constipation, nausea, diarrhea, stomach pain, cramps, muscle soreness, pain & weakness, and loss of your sex drive. (Notice how most of these side effects will make it harder to exercise and naturally fix the problem of high cholesterol. Cholesterol is extremely important in building muscle.)
Medicine Money

Possibly more imporant than everything above, we want to show the financial aspect of medicine in America. The first example is Costa Rica. They have now surpassed Americans in their average life expectancy and yet they spend just over 15% of what America spends on healthcare (relative currency and p/person ratio). At the same time Cuba has the same life expectancy as we do in America and spends approximately 7% of what we spend. If we were to change our health system to follow either of these countries than we would be saving between $1.8 to $2 trillion each year. That is between $5,000 and $6,500 for every person in the USA. This is all money that is being 100% wasted on fighting simply to survive when one should not have these illnesses in the first place.

A final fun fact: Wikileaks has uncovered classified information from one of America's leading drug company, Pfizer, on how they have been testing drugs on African children when they knew it wouldn't be allowed for testing on American population. They would offer parents small amounts of money to use their child for research. Some of these tests killed more than 10% of the children. Sounds more like a Nazi group than a health group.
