According to the National Weight Control Registry, 90% of people who maintained a weight loss of at least 30 pound for more than one year ate breakfast at least five times a week. Studies have shown that either a high protein or a high grain breakfast have beneficial results. Harvard found that whole grain breakfast eaters are 17% less likely to die over the next five years and are also 20% less likely to die from cardiovascular disease. Louisiana State did their study on eating eggs with breakfast and discovered that there is a 61% greater reduction in one’s body mass index while allowing for a 65% greater weight loss than those who didn’t eat eggs during the study.

                A study by Doctor Daniela Jakubowicz  found some of the most prominent results. Obese women were put on a similar diet program with one differing factor; breakfast. After eight months Dr. Jakubowicz revealed that those who ate breakfast lost an average of 40 pounds over this time frame as compared to the 9 pound loss by non-breakfast eaters. She also reported a 21% decrease in body fat for breakfast eaters as compared to only a 4.5% decrease from those who didn’t consume an early meal.

                From the evidence provided above, it becomes extremely apparent that breakfast will help a person lose weight as well as helping maintain that weight. On top of controlling weight, breakfast has also shown to promote many alternative benefits. Following is a list of benefits discovered by comparing school children and their breakfast habits. These studies were conducted by the University of Southern Mississippi and Harvard University’s General Hospital;

It jump-starts metabolism, provides nutrients, gets the brain moving, and also gives energy to the body. Some will even go as far as to say that breakfast should be the largest meal of the day since it is responsible for getting you through an entire day’s worth of work. Logically this is very obvious, but not much research has gone into providing strong support to that theory.
