Purpose of Project Million

An article produced by Newsweek in late 2009 shows that health education has a stronger influence among people than any other aspect of human life. Our job is to do exactly that. We do the research and give you the best information available from around the globe. We at Project Million have studied thousands of articles on health and longevity. In that time we learned that it doesn’t take a great amount of effort to be healthy. We have also gained the ability to filter out the valuable information from the well-worded frauds that constantly find their way into the media and into temporary health fads. This site is based on three simple concepts; a simplistic approach, a better life now, and ultimately a longer life. Unlike a majority of health fads, these steps are based on solid research and proven results.

We have kept this site as limited as possible for what is given to you. This isn’t the normal health website that can double as an encyclopedia from to the overwhelming amount of information and suggestions they shove your way. We have specified certain areas of concern that a person should have. You know enough about yourself to know which diseases you run the greatest chance of developing. We know you don’t want to change your entire lifestyle so we are not going to ask you to do so; especially considering there is no need. It takes very simple lifestyle changes to see drastic results.

The question is, why prevention?  A study produced by the American Cancer Society shows that for every dollar spent towards preventative healthcare will save a person from $3 to $15 on healthcare in the long run. On the opposing side, one in every three dollars spent on healthcare doesn’t actually do anything to cure the illness for which they are used for. More people are addicted to prescription medicine than cocaine, heroin, ecstasy, hallucinogens, and marijuana combined. More people are also dying from these medications than all of the illegal drugs combined when taken at their recommended dose. According to recent figures, prescription medicine is the 4th most common form of death in America (when used properly) with over 100,000 deaths a year. This doesn’t include the 2.2 million RECORDED serious side effects each year from medication. These side effects are currently responsible for 1 in every 4 hospital visits in the United States. It is not uncommon for a person to be put on medicine in an effort to counteract the negative effects of other medications they take (American Medical Association).

One recent discovery shows that a man by the name of Dr. Scott Reuben, of Baystate Medical Center, fabricated research of at least 21 medical research studies. Dr. Reuben’s most obvious case of fraud came from his study of Celebrex. His study stated that Celebrex was a safe medication for pain relief. There was a slight problem with this study; not a single person (or animal) was involved. It was 100% fake. He is also known to have fabricated studies on Vioxx (responsible for over 100,000 deaths) and Bextra. Now, after being partially responsible for the death of more than 100,000 people, Dr. Reuben faces a maximum penalty of only 10 years in prison. Note: these are all pain medications so not a single person’s life was saved from these pills.

Think that is a rare scenario? Nearly 20% of medications are taken off the shelf within 5 years of their introduction due to their devastating health effects. Most of these medicine’s adverse effects were known before they were even promoted. Finally, there are new warning labels added to an average of 40 drugs a month. These are medications that are already spread across the nation, and the side effects come from the population being used as the guinea pig.

Here are a few other statistics to help get you motivated. Costa Rica spends 15% of what Americans do on healthcare and still have a greater life expectancy. Currently, more than 25% of Americans will never see the age of 75. Over half of America has one or more chronic diseases. More than two thirds of Americans are overweight, costing America over $2.2 trillion a year (2007 stats). Over 40% of cancers and 90% of heart disease can be avoided from simple lifestyle changes. Even just being overweight is as dangerous as smoking 10 cigarettes a day. Columbia University revealed that being obese carries a greater chance for premature death than a heavy smoker! Healthcare for an obese person costs 42% more than a person of normal weight.

Simple eating and lifestyle alterations are proven to add years to your life. It’s not uncommon to add 10 years to your life expectancy by adding the steps we are about to grant you. Americans long for greater health more than anything else in their life, yet they often find it being the last thing they truly worry about. "Give us 5 hours and we will give you 10 years." Let’s take back the control of our life and add years of health and mentality to this amazing life you we given!
